How Gujarat Hardware Mart launched a real e-commerce site

Gujarat Hardware Mart is a four-generation hardware retailer in Palitana, selling tools, fasteners, paint supplies, and plumbing fittings across a 4,200 sq ft showroom and a small B2B trade counter.

The company’s existing website was a 2017 static catalogue with no checkout, no on-site search, and no mobile optimisation. Customers who searched for “buy [product] Palitana” on mobile landed on slow, text-heavy pages with no path to purchase. Younger customers in particular were defecting to Ahmedabad and Bhavnagar competitors with modern checkout flows.

WebGrow24 shipped a mobile-first Shopify build over a four-week engagement. The scope covered on-site search, COD plus Razorpay UPI checkout, an in-store inventory sync against the existing Tally export, and a 3,200 product import from the old catalogue. A Lighthouse performance budget of 90+ was enforced from the first deploy; weekly stakeholder reviews caught three scope changes mid-build.

The site went live on day 28 with a mobile Lighthouse performance score of 94. First-month online revenue was ₹4.2 lakh, recovering the build cost within 60 days.

“We had been losing customers to Ahmedabad competitors for two years. WebGrow24 shipped a mobile-first site in four weeks and the first month of online sales recovered the build cost.”

Frequently asked

Questions about this engagement.

Why Shopify and not a custom build?+

Shopify ships with PCI-compliant checkout, inventory, and shipping out of the box. A custom build for ₹4.2 lakh/month of GMV would have taken longer to ship and cost more in ongoing maintenance.

How do you enforce a mobile performance budget?+

Lighthouse CI runs on every PR. The build fails if mobile performance drops below 90. Weekly stakeholder review catches scope changes that would push the build over the budget.

What does ongoing support look like after launch?+

30 days of post-launch support is included in the build. After that, monthly retainers start at ₹19,999/month for SEO + content briefs + technical fixes.
